Tom Jones, Jr.
Actor
Tom Jones, Jr. started his career in film construction in 1984 as a carpenter on “Cat’s Eye”, moving to Wilmington on the chance offered by a friend in the industry. It was the second film produced by Dino de Laurentiis in Wilmington, N.C. Coming from a background in residential and commercial construction the transition was fairly smooth. The years at the De Laurentiis studios were marked by an intense production schedule involving local and international craftsmen who readily shared their knowledge. In 1989, after coming off of a grueling 9 month campaign as a foreman on “The Abyss”, Tom landed his first construction coordinator position on “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. It was the first of 4 films where he was fortunate enough to collaborate with the Jim Henson Co. The intervening years have presented various technical and logistical challenges to bring the scripts to the screen. Spaceships, submarines, baseball and football fields, muppet-sized cities, racetracks for the Triple Crown, a 20,000 square foot swamp with mature cypress trees and countless other adventures have paved a circuitous path through the entertainment landscape. Tom was singled out during a production meeting for “Halloween 2018” by the first assistant director and asked to give him “a look”. That “look” led to Tom being cast to play the part of Dr. Samuel Loomis in “Halloween Kills”. Thirty nine years behind the camera led to 12 hours in front of the camera.
